On a random Wednesday night our family dog Sammy collapsed outside after eating dinner and playing. At the Animal Emergency and Specialty Center in Springdale the doctor told us that Sammy had tumors on his heart and abdomen that were bleeding. She was 99% certain there was no possibility of a lasting recovery. She said he could die on the table while she attempted to drain the blood, or it could happen overnight as we waited for a specialist to see him the next morning.
After 8 years we decided to say goodbye to our dear Sammy. My daughter and I stayed with him to make his final minutes as peacful and calm as possible. My wife couldn't bear the added heartbreak of witnessing his last mintes and waited outside.
We adopted Sammy from the Fayetteville shelter at 8 weeks and loved him for 8 years. He passed on December 14, 2022.
Goodbye old man, I'll see you one day.
